There are some moments in shooting weddings where everything just clicks. The chemistry of the couple, the location, the lighting, the weather, and the timing all align to allow for incredible footage. Zoe and Scott's first look this past weekend was one of the most perfect examples of this that I've ever gotten to be a part of. The rest of the day was similarly perfect. The low clouds and mist, which were gorgeous for the first look, eventually burned off, opening up for a beautiful, sunny ceremony and reception. I'm so excited looking at the footage, and I can't wait until I get to edit the full video.
Laura and Brendan - Wedding Highlights
I can't possibly sum up how awesome this wedding was in a blog post. Laura and Brendan were some of the sweetest people I've ever worked with, and it was so wonderful getting to see their two beautiful families become one. Their three children were absolutely adorable, and the two of their sons old enough to talk gave some of my favorite speech audio I've ever captured!
Laura and Brendan got married at River Bend in Lyons Colorado, which is probably my favorite venue anywhere on the front range. The ceremony backdrop is a gorgeous cliff face overlooking Saint Vrain Creek and the sweeping green field and stands of trees that make up the venue. River bend holds a special place in my heart, as it was where we shot our first wedding after we started our own wedding video company four years ago. The venue's biggest downside is that they only allow acoustic music, but the couple got around that by bringing in DJs from DTP Events to throw a silent disco, which may be my favorite new wedding trend I've run into this year.
We were also fortunate to work alongside some other fantastic vendors. We got to reunite with the fantastically talented photographer Autumn Cutaia, who we shot alongside last year in Evergreen, and we got to work with the planning and floral crew from Bello and Blue for the very first time.
Congratulations Laura and Brendan!
Bixby and Jason - Wedding Highlights
I am so happy with how this video came together! Rainy days aren't what you think of when you imagine a Colorado wedding, but the clouds and rain can make for such gorgeous footage. Bixby and Jason didn't let the weather phase them at all! They were such a fun couple to work with, and their wedding was an awesome reflection of their personalities. They had so many unique flairs throughout their wedding day, ranging from Bixby's incredible "bouquet" to their awesome light up geode cake, to stilt walkers in place of flower girls. I'm so happy to have been able to capture this wedding.
A few posts ago, I talked about the "x factors" that can take a video over the top. Great audio is another one. I always encourage the brides and grooms I work with to write notes to each other if they aren't doing custom vows, because personal, intimate audio can absolutely make a video. Some couples don't need encouragement. I don't really get to listen to the vows at the wedding, because I'm busy checking shots and monitoring audio levels, so oftentimes the first time I actually listed to the content is while editing. Bixby and Jason's vows to each other were so poetic and so touching that I teared up sitting at computer when I heard them.
Bixby and Jason, thank you for having us as a part of your wedding day. It was an absolute joy.
Jill and Sam - Wedding Highlight Video
I am so excited to be able to finally share this wedding video! Before I even loaded the footage for this wedding in to my computer to pull together the preview, I knew this video was going to be something special. The location, the day, the couple, the amazing flower arrangements put together by the mother of the bride, and the awesome first dance were all too perfect for it to not be a spectacular video.
One of the "x factors" that can really make a wedding video spectacular is willingness from the bride and grooms (and wedding party) to go the extra mile to get cool shots. Sam and Jill may take home the all time gold medal in that category. Thank you Jill and Sam for being such good sports all day and giving us the time and freedom to capture amazing footage! This wedding was an absolute joy to shoot and edit, and we are so grateful to have been a part of your wedding day. Congratulations!
Happy Anniversary Nate and Katie!
It is my brother Nate's and my awesome sister in law Katie's one year anniversary, so I thought I would celebrate by sharing the video we put together for that as a wedding present.
This was a tough wedding to shoot, as I had to juggle shooting the wedding with being in the wedding party. Nate originally asked me if I could put a camera in the back to shoot the ceremony, as they weren't planning on hiring a videographer. I decided I needed to try to do something a little more elaborate. I was a bit preoccupied with being in the wedding, which left my wife/assistant Lauren to pick up the slack and she was more than up to the task. She has shot a few dozen weddings with me now, and is an incredibly talented videographer. I'm so lucky to have her at my side for all of my weddings. Most of the credit for this video really belongs to her.
This is truly special to me. It was such a joy to put together a video for two of my favorite people on earth, filled with clips of friends, family and loved ones. It was amazing to walk down the aisle to a processional played by my dad, alongside my niece Kayla, to stand between my brother Jon and my nephew Dylan. It puts such a different perspective on the wedding films I make, to be able to be the videographer and also the "client." It makes me want to be able to create videos for other that make their family as happy as this video makes me.
Congratulations Katie and Nate! Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your wedding, both as a groomsman and as a videographer.
Oh, and I totally rocked that bowtie and those suspenders:
Jacilyn and Jake - Wedding Highlight Video
I posted the preview for this wedding a few weeks ago, and I'm so excited to share the final wedding video!
Jacilyn and Jake's wedding in Vail was the quintessential Colorado mountain wedding. The entire day looked and felt pulled from the pages of a bridal magazine. Every little detail of the wedding was crafted with with incredible attention to detail, and the total result was breathtaking. The location, the floral arrangements, and even the dinner (elk hunted by the bride!) were all wonderful.
First and foremost, I want to give a shout out to the artists over at Vintage Magnolia Florists. We see a lot of bouquets, boutonnieres and floral arrangements, and the flowers for this wedding were some of my all time favorites. The ceremony took place on the lawn at The Larkspur, with Vail's iconic view of the Gore range in full glory behind the couple, and the reception was at the Donovan Pavilion, which is one of my favorite reception venues in Colorado. Photography was by Click and Pedal. Catering was by Gourmet Cowboy.
This video was such a joy to film, and Jacilyn and Jake were incredible to work with. I am so grateful to have gotten to capture such a beautiful wedding, and I wish the couple a lifetime of happiness!
Bixby and Jason - Wedding Video Preview
The Denver Botanic Gardens has been one of my favorite places ever since I first moved down to Denver for college in 2006, and it is one of the best places in Denver to have a wedding. I've been hoping to get to shoot a wedding there since I first started up my business, and Bixby and Jason's wedding was an amazing way to cross it off of my venue wishlist.
The day itself was a bit rainy and grey, but Bixby and Jason didn't let that phase them at all, and it made for an absolutely gorgeous, romantic first look at the Botanic Garden's Monet Garden. It's such an honor getting to share in moments like this with the couples whose weddings we capture and it is so much fun to get to watch the joy and elation on couples' faces the first time they see each other.
Congratulations Bixby and Jason! Thanks for letting us be a part of your wedding day!
Caitlyn and Matthew - Wedding Highlights
I just love how this wedding video came together. Caitlyn and Matthew were one of the sweetest, most genuine couples I can ever remember working with. They had such a fun and beautiful wedding, and they were so good-natured, even as we made them walk repeatedly through tall yukka plants for portraits! I think it was totally worth it to have the chalk cliffs as a sunset backdrop.
Mount Princeton Hotsprings in Buena Vista Colorado is one of my favorite places on earth, and I've wanted to shoot a wedding there ever since I got started in this industry. The chalk cliffs, the river and the meadow all make for such an ideal Colorado mountain wedding venue. I hope I get to shoot there again soon!
Jill and Sam - Copper Mountain Wedding Video Preview
Just like the Vail wedding video I posted a couple of weeks ago, Jill and Sam's wedding in Copper Mountain Colorado was right on my home turf, only about 15 minutes from my childhood home. I grew up skiing, hiking, and biking at Copper, which makes getting to shoot there such a joy.
Jill and Sam were simply awesome to work with. They built hours of time for photos and video into their schedule, and they were so involved in and excited for the process of capturing awesome images. The centerpiece of our sunset shoot was an encore of their beautifully choreographed first dance, and I can safely say that it is some of my favorite footage I've ever captured. I love the way the silhouettes and shadows play on the grass, with the Copper valley as the backdrop. I can't wait to edit the highlights for this wedding.
i also want to send a HUGE thank you to Greg Roe from Roe Photography for all of his help throughout the day. Greg was fantastic to work with, and does some truly wonderful work.
Jacilyn & Jake - Wedding Preview
This weekend we had the pleasure to shoot Jacilyn and Jake's wedding up in Vail, Colorado. Shooting in the mountains near my home town is one of my favorite things on earth. Colorado is such an amazing place to get to work, and its even more special working in places near and dear to my heart.
Congratulations Jacilyn and Jake. I can't wait to start working on the full edit!
Tho and Nancy - Wedding Highlights
Tho and Nancy's wedding was the ultimate way to jump head first into the 2017 wedding season. The wedding was a combination of Vietnamese, Laotian, and American traditions, with two Vietnamese tea ceremonies, a Laotian ceremony, and an American style reception. For the couple, this meant a 20 hour day, 3 different wardrobes, and a whole lot of driving in a late April snowstorm. All of these different moments, clothes, and locations added up to a final video that couldn't be happier with. I wish Tho and Nancy all the best in their lives together!
I owe a massive thank you to Nate and Megan Kantor at Cedar and Pines Photography for all of their help throughout the day. They are some of our favorite photographers we've ever worked alongside, and their photos from the day are simply stunning.
Caitlyn and Matthew Wedding Preview
The 2017 summer wedding season is in full swing, and we couldn't have possibly kicked off with a better wedding. Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort outside Buena Vista Colorado has been one of my "bucket list" locations ever since I started my company, and I've been looking forward to this wedding ever since the bride contacted me last fall. The chalk cliffs are such a stunning backdrop for a wedding, and the weather played along perfectly. After days of rain on the front range, and a blizzard on the drive out from Denver, we were so pleased to have a pure blue Colorado sky for the wedding day.
Caitlyn and Matthew were a fantastic couple to work with. We wish them nothing but the absolute best in their life together!
Ali and Kelton Wedding Highlights
Last month I posted the preview for this wedding, and I'm so excited to be able to share the final video. Ali and Kelton had the absolute perfect Colorado winter wedding up in Winter Park. It was a clear blue sky day, with a frigid -10 degree morning that got warm enough for us to actually take the bride and groom out for some couples photos and video in the afternoon.
Thanks for letting me capture your awesome wedding Ali and Kelton! Congratulations!
Ali and Kelton Wedding Preview
I absolutely love shooting winter weddings in Colorado. I grew up in the mountains, and winter is my absolute favorite time of year. Snow, blue skies, bare aspens and evergreens make for such a perfect, romantic backdrop for a wedding, and make for beautiful video. I was overjoyed when Ali and Kelton contacted me this summer, asking me to shoot their wedding at Devil's Thumb Ranch between Christmas and New Years. The day, the venue and the couple couldn't have been more perfect. I can't wait to edit their highlight video!
Jillian and Ramit Wedding Highlights
In September, I was honored to shoot one of my closest friend's wedding in our home town of Breckenridge, CO. I love all of the weddings I get to capture, but there is something fun and special about shooting and editing a wedding with a crowd full of my friends and family. Jill was such a beautiful bride, and I can't imagine a better match for her than Ramit. I am so happy for the two of them, and I wish them nothing but the absolute best in the years to come!
The ceremony and reception were at 10 mile station, in Breckenridge, CO. The planner was Emily at Bella Event Design & Planning.
Whitney and Trey Wedding Highlights
Whitney and Trey's wedding was at the stunning Spruce Mountain Ranch, north of Colorado Springs. Sweeping mountain venues like Spruce Mountain Ranch are one of the main reasons I love shooting weddings in Colorado. Add a wonderful couple to a wonderful backdrop, and you have the recipe for an awesome wedding!
Congratulations Whitney and Trey!
Katie and AK Wedding Highlights
Words cannot express how much of a joy it was to shoot and edit Katie and AK's Wedding Video. Few couples I've ever worked with have shown the level of sheer, unabashed joy and excitement that this couple showed. That atmosphere of love, paired with an incredible venue and a beautiful Colorado day made for a truly incredible wedding. Congratulations Katie and AK! Thank you for letting us be a part of your celebration!
Jillian and Ramit Wedding Preview
This past Saturday I got to shoot my best friend's wedding. Jill and I met in middle school, and she has been one of my closest friends ever since. It was such an amazing honor to get to spend the day capturing her beautiful mountain wedding. She couldn't have found a better match, and I couldn't be happier for her or her new husband Ramit. I wish them all the best in their lives together!
The venue was the picturesque Ten Mile Station, and the wedding planner was Bella Event Design and Planning.
Catherine and Stefan - Wedding Highlights
Catherine and Stefan had a perfect Colorado mountain wedding at Wild Horse Inn in Winter Park Colorado. They were an absolute joy to work with, and we wish them the best throughout their married life together!
Special thanks to Irving Photography, A Touch of Bliss Events, and the awesome staff and catering at Wild Horse Inn!
Noemi and Karthik Preview
Noemi and Karthik had a gorgeous mountain wedding in Silverthorne, Colorado. The ceremony may have had the most stunning ceremony backdrop of the year so far. I grew up in Summit County, and after almost three decades, the scenery still takes my breath away.
The couple were great to work with, and the wedding was as full of joy and love as any wedding I've ever shot. I can't wait to edit the full highlight video!
Congratulations Noemi and Karthik!
