Lauren + Caleb - Boulder Flower Farm Wedding - Featured on The Knot

Andrew Nease October 27, 2020

Surprises! We’ve been to a lot of weddings that had surprises planned into the day — sometimes couples like to surprise their guests with something fun, exciting or sweet. Other times the bride or groom will have a surprise for their loved one, such as a musical performance, a sentimental gift (a dining set purchased in secret from the coffee shop where they had their first date), or a surprise guest appearance (Santa Claus anyone!?) However, we’ve never been to a wedding where the ENTIRE DAY was a complete surprise to both the bride and the groom, until we met Lauren & Caleb.

2020’s wedding season has been challenging, both for vendors and for couples. It’s been interesting to see how different people have adapted to the circumstances. Like so many couples this year, Lauren and Caleb had to make the difficult decision to discard their wedding plans and start from scratch. Faced with having to re-plan from the ground up, they instead relinquished full control of their wedding into the incredibly skilled hands of Brynn and the team at First Look Events, who put together one of the most unique and spectacular weddings we’ve ever had the opportunity to be a part of at Boulder Flower Farm. Every detail of the day was meticulously planned, from the massive floral ceremony backdrop created by Little Shop of Floral, to the intricate table setting and seven-course plated dinner by Footers Catering complete with adorable, decorative little notes that hinted at what the next course would be. What made it even more special was that the entire magical day — from start to finish — was a complete surprise to the couple. They had no idea what the schedule was, what the decorations would look like — nothing! It was so fresh and exciting to go along beside them and capture their joy and excitement as the day was slowly revealed to them moment by moment.

In addition to video coverage of the day, we also live streamed Lauren & Caleb’s wedding ceremony. Due to the circumstances, only about a dozen or so guests were in attendance in person at their wedding, but we were able to bring the ceremony live to over 80 viewers watching from 40 different places, including the groom’s brother who tuned in at 3:00 am in Saudi Arabia. We also worked with their families in the weeks leading up to the wedding, and edited a surprise video montage of pre-recorded toasts and well wishes from their family and friends who were unable to attend in person. In a year that’s been hard in so many ways, this was really a silver lining for us to be able to help provide services that share love, and bring people closer together when they can’t be together in person.

Lauren and Caleb, you were such a joy to work with. We really are so unimaginably grateful to have been a part of your wedding day and we wish you all the best in years to come!

In addition to the vendors we called out above, we’d also like to thank Lizzie and Marco Wedding Photographers, Colorado Party Rentals, Elite DJ, Faces by Liz, Handsome Love Calligraphy, and Beauty on Location Studio. Thanks for being such a great team of vendors to work with. You all helped to make this day a beautiful and magical as it was!

Lauren & Caleb’s day was featured on The Knot Real Weddings! See more photos of their day here!

Krista + Zach - Keystone, CO Wedding Film

Andrew Nease November 26, 2019

September 6, 2019 | Keystone, Colorado

Krista and Zach are two of the kindest, most laid back and sincere people we've ever met. Being around them is so refreshing. They have an amazing sense of calm and balance, taking everything in stride. Even when rainy weather threatened to derail the schedule of the day, these two embraced it. Every moment of their wedding day had so much intentionality, and so much presence of mind. It's very easy at weddings to get swept up in the emotions, all the events, the nerves, etc, and before you know it, the day is over. This day felt like time slowed, like it could breath. It felt balanced too -- with beautiful and personal details & decorations and in a breath-takingly beautiful landscape, but not so much that it distracted from the real significance of the day. The day was not only about Zach and Krista, but also about the joining of a family. Zach's sweet daughter Zoe read a beautiful statement during the ceremony that brings tears to our eyes every. single. time.

The ensuing evening was truly a blast and the perfect cap to the day-- the band Woodshed Red lit up the house with their energetic string group, and in the light of a blazing fireplace and under the warm glow of large woven wicker lanterns, this lovely community danced their hearts out.

Their wedding was one of the highlights of our year, and a truly inspirational story. We are so honored to have been a part of this day, and to help preserve its memory. Congrats Krista & Zach! We wish you guys all the best in your lives together!

Tiffany & Donovan - Crested Butte Wedding

Andrew Nease September 26, 2019

Both of us have spent nearly our whole lives in Colorado. Andy grew up in Frisco, while Lauren grew up ten minutes away in Breckenridge. Both of our families traveled quite a bit, road tripping all over Colorado. We’ve each seen nearly ever corner of this beautiful and diverse state. That being said, neither of us had been to Crested Butte in many years (over a decade at least). So when we arrived there for Tiffany and Donovan’s wedding, it was almost like experiencing it all again for the first time, and we were absolutely BLOWN. AWAY. Colorado, as a whole, is so beautiful — but this was something special. It was spring, and the wildflowers were like nothing we’ve ever experienced in Colorado before. The open mountain sides were literally yellow and purple from miles away, just from the sheer quantity of flowers. The mountain ridges and open meadows are truly a site that takes your breath away. It definitely was giving me (Lauren) “The Sound of Music” vibes.

And it was on top of a mountain in the midst of all this that Tiffany and Donovan shared their intimate wedding celebration surrounded by their loved ones. We were enamored with this whole day and with these two and their wonderful family — beautiful inside and out. Congratulations Tiffany & Donovan! Thank you for inviting us into this special place to share the day with you. We wish you and your adorable family all the best!

Hannah & Reid - Spruce Mountain Ranch Wedding

Andrew Nease July 17, 2019

Hannah and Reid’s wedding at Spruce Mountain Ranch was nothing short of magical. We met them for the first time the morning of their wedding, and as the day went on, we caught snippets here and there that shed light on who they are as people, and how their relationship came to be. Their romance is so classic it could be made into a movie — Hannah, a smart, beautiful woman who was studying to become a doctor, falls in love with Reid, a handsome, football jock. They meet one fateful day when Hannah was working as a waitress, and Reid came in for a bite of food, and their relationship went from there. But more than this sweet beginning, their story is inspirational in how real it feels — full of trials, challenges, successes and dreams. These two positively glowed with joy the entire day, and it really highlighted how weddings aren’t just a day in the life — they are a culmination of everything that couples have already been through, and the beginning of a new and exciting chapter.

Hannah and Reid, thank you for inviting us to be a part of your special day! We had so much fun spending the day with you and helping to capture all of these beautiful moments. We wish you the best in your lives ahead!

Rachel & Luke - Wedding Highlights

Andrew Nease March 17, 2019

Today we are excited to share Rachel and Luke’s wedding highlight film! Their romantic January wedding at Brookside Gardens Event Center in Berthoud, CO was a true labor of love. It was first and foremost a celebration of Rachel and Luke’s relationship and love for one another. Everything about the day had a personal touch that accentuated this truth — from the heartfelt notes that R&L wrote each other before the ceremony, to all of the carefully thought out decor, to the fact that Luke’s father officiated their wedding ceremony. Throughout the day, there was so much joy that radiated from all of their loved ones. They were truly one of the kindest groups of people that we’ve ever been around, and after the day was over, we left feeling a bit sad that we weren’t a part of their family too!

One of the most impressive and humbling elements of the day were all of the details that went into the actual event. Rachel’s amazing and talented sister, Cat is no stranger to weddings, and runs her own custom stationary business, Beautifully Noted. She poured countless hours into planning and creating a dream wedding for her beloved sister, from the custom invitation suite, to the table settings, wedding programs, handmade place cards, vow booklets, even dress tags in the bridal suite (I’m sure there were even more things that I’m forgetting!) No detail was too minor to escape her touch, and all turned out so lovely. We were really touched by this sweet expression of love.

Rachel and Luke, congratulations on your wedding together! Thank you for the opportunity to share in and help capture this special day. We wish you all the best!

Stephanie & Zach - Wedding Highlights

Andrew Nease December 22, 2018

Today we are incredibly excited to share Stephanie and Zach’s wedding highlight film! Their mountain wedding on top of Steamboat Resort was perfectly timed with the spectacular fall aspen colors that Colorado is famous for. Add in some sunny weather, and you get one gloriously beautiful wedding day. We basically ran around all day with ridiculous smiles on our faces, so excited by the footage we were getting. This day yielded one of our favorite sunset sessions of all time.

Stephanie and Zach were so easy and wonderful to work with! From the moment they saw each other during the first look, only had eyes for each other the whole rest of the day. During their ceremony, Stephanie and Zach shared hand-written vows with each other, and oh man did they pull at our heartstrings! These vows seemed like they could have been taken from an epic romance movie — by pure coincidence, both ended with the same line. It does not get sweeter than that!

This wedding was a fantastic way to wrap up our summer 2018 season, and we had such a good time all day! (I mean, give us a camera, amazing people and put us on top of a mountain? We were in heaven!) Thank you Stephanie and Zach for allowing us to be such an important part of your big day! It means the world to us to get to work with couples like you, and we wish you guys all the best in the years to come!

Cooky & Darren - Wedding Highlights

Andrew Nease December 17, 2018

I’ve mentioned my “wedding venue bucket list” in a few other blog posts when I’ve gotten to check off venues I’ve dreamed of shooting at. There are few venues that were higher on that list than the top of Keystone Ski Area. I grew up 15 minutes from Keystone, and have so many wonderful memories there. Even with all of the awesome days and nights of skiing, getting to shoot Cooky and Darren’s wedding on to of Dercum Mountain was one of the most fun and memorable days I’ve ever had up there!

I simply don’t have the words to describe how amazing this whole day was. Cooky and Darren are both such warm, open, amazing people, and their love for each other is so genuine. Their vows make me choke up a little bit every time I hear them, even after listening to them dozens of times as I edited. It was such an honor to get to spend the day around this beautiful couple, in this beautiful setting. Weddings like Cooky and Darren’s are what makes shooting weddings so rewarding!

Huge thanks to the planning crew from Sweetly Paired, Megan Wynn Photography, and all of the folks from Keystone Resort’s Wedding Team, and the biggest thanks of all to Cooky and Darren! We wish you two all the best in your lives together!

Niki & Mark - Wedding Highlight Film

Andrew Nease December 11, 2018

Niki and Mark’s wedding highlight is here! This whirlwind of a day was so much fun, and we’ve been looking forward to this edit ever since the wedding ended. This joy-filled day took us all over the Vail valley: from the colorful, bustling town of Vail, up to the top of Vail Ski Area with its glorious panoramic vistas, then out to the Sonnenalp Golf Club in Edwards for the bash of a lifetime! We loved everything about this day (seriously!) The florals and decor were stunning — definitely one of the best all year, and the setting was spectacular (naturally). Even Grace, Niki and Mark’s adorable golden retriever, had a special role for the occasion. But more than all that, it was just a pleasure to be able to witness the joy and love held between these two people and their web of family and friends.

Niki and Mark — Thank you for bringing us on board to help capture your special day! We are so happy for the two of you. Congratulations and best wishes in your new life together!

Also wanted to give a special shout out to the amazing Bello & Blue Events and also to Caitlin Steuben Photography for being such an awesome team to work with. Thank you for all your hard work, help and enthusiasm throughout the day!

Ruby & Travis - Wedding Highlight Film

Andrew Nease December 7, 2018

When we first found out that we would be traveling to Aspen this summer to film Ruby and Travis’ big day, we were super excited. As it is, we need very little excuse to travel to that part of Colorado — it is so incredibly beautiful, even by Colorado standards. The morning of their wedding, we drove over Independence Pass and caught a window of sunny weather to fly our drone. This turned out to be very fortuitous, as the rest of the day’s weather was mostly rainy. In spite of the rain, we had a blast driving around with Ruby and Travis to some of their favorite spots around Aspen for their first look and then for some couples portraits afterwards. Though it’s not what most couples hope for on their wedding day, rainy weather can make for some of the prettiest lighting and video footage. So with umbrellas and raincoats in tow, everyone braved the rain with smiles on their faces and joy in their hearts. Their ceremony was one of our favorites all year — both because of the rain aesthetically, and also because of their heartfelt personalized vows.

Ruby and Travis, we are so happy for the two of you! Congratulations and thank you so much for bringing us on board to help capture your special day! We wish you all the best in the years ahead.

Allison & Stefan - Wedding Highlights

Andrew Nease September 27, 2018

Shooting at the ski resorts is certainly one of the more unique joys of being wedding videographer in Colorado. Weddings are always already brimming with gorgeous decorations and food and then you get to add panoramic mountain vistas and alpine forests. The natural landscape makes a magnificent setting for the joy and emotion of weddings. Allison and Stefan’s wedding was no exception! They had a lovely ceremony part way up the mountain on the deck of the brand new Koko’s Hut, situated in a lush meadow. All of the bridesmaids and the bride herself rode up the chair lift one by one and walked straight down the aisle, which was so cool!

Allison and Stefan, we are honored that you chose us to help capture your wedding. We had such a wonderful time shooting your wedding, and we wish you a lifetime of joy and happiness!

Yulee and David - Wedding Highlight Film

Andrew Nease August 16, 2018

Yulee and David's Palo Alto wedding was one of the highlights of our summer for so many reasons!

Yulee and David found us by way of a recommendation from the incredibly talented Katie from Katie Photographie. Katie and her husband are some of my dearest friends, and of all of the photographers I've ever worked with, she is one of ones whose work I respect most. She's had me on her videographer recommendations list for years, but most couples don't want to fly a videographer out to the bay area from Colorado, so we hadn't had the chance to work together since 2012. It was so exciting when Yulee and David contacted me and decided to fly us out to capture their wedding! Their wedding was an opportunity to travel out of state, work with one of my favorite photographers on earth, and capture the beautiful wedding of a truly wonderful couple.

Yulee and David were such a fun couple to get to spend a day (and then a couple weeks in front of a computer) with! Their wedding hit every note that I feel a wedding should. It was filled to the brim with smiles, laughter, tender moments, goofy jokes, music, dancing, and so much more. Every second of the day was a reflection of the couple's personalities and love for each other, and the wedding was so much fun to shoot and edit.

Yulee and David, thank you so much for bringing us out to California!. It was a joy and a blessing to us in so many ways. You two were both so great to work with, and it was such a pleasure to get to capture your wedding!

Mikaela and Robert - Wedding Highlight Video

Andrew Nease June 19, 2018

Mikaela and Robert's wedding marked the start of the summer 2018 wedding season, and it was such an amazing way to kick things off. Mikaela and Robert's wedding encapsulated everything that makes wedding video so special and so much fun. Weddings are celebrations of love. The emotions, the excitement and the joy we get to capture are the main reason I shoot weddings, and Mikaela and Robert's love for each other and love for their children showed every second of the day. The day was truly the coming together of two individuals and two families, and it is a deep honor to be a part of it.

The wedding took place at the historic Robison Mansion in Canon City Colorado. I'd never heard of the Robison Mansion before this wedding, and it is now one of my all time favorite wedding venues. It is just all so picturesque, that all the words I can think of to describe it sound like hyperbole. The manicured lawns and the stunning fountain in front of the mansion formed the perfect backdrop for the ceremony, followed up by a reception set among massive old trees and string lights. It is an absolutely fantastic venue. I also want to give a special shout out and thank you to the amazing in house event staff. The folks who work at Robison are as awesome as the venue itself.

Mikaela and Robert, thank you for letting us capture your big day, and congratulations! We wish you nothing but the best in your life together!

Rachel and Ryan - Wedding Highlights

Andrew Nease February 3, 2018

"What you're doing today, it's about you but it is about so much more. [...] you don't know this but 100 years from now there is a generation that is going to [...] look back on this day and they're going to say thanks be to God that the two of you, Ryan and Rachel, that you found one another that you fell in love, that you said yes, I want to. For now and always. You're giving a gift to the future. And that, my friends, is a very beautiful thing."

We loved this quote taken from Ryan and Rachel's wedding ceremony. It so beautifully helps put into words the significance and impact that the day has not only for the couple, but for the future family and connections that grow from these two people's love. This is part of why we love getting to film weddings and help capture these important moments. It's hard not to get pulled in emotionally when you think of weddings in this way!

Rachel and Ryan's wedding took place at the Sonnenalp Hotel in Vail, Colorado in the heart of summer. Their ceremony was in a picturesque white steepled church across the street -- the Vail Interfaith Chapel. Emotions aside, we were really blown away by how stunning this weddings was. Every carefully planned detail for their big day was so classy, elegant, and chic. Their reception was one of our favorites EVER!  It took place in an attached glass terrace that had large sliding glass walls AND a sliding glass roof that could all open up to the summer mountain air. Add in dozens of candles, gorgeous, overflowing floral centerpieces, and greenery-laced chandeliers, and you have one dreamy, romantic setting.

Rachel and Ryan for letting us be a part of your wedding day. We wish you all the best in your lifetime together!

Special thanks to all of the awesome vendors we got to work alongside for this wedding. The planner was Cammye from We Tie The Knots, the photography was by Callie Hobbs Photography, and the floral arrangements were by Park Floral Design. The catering, cake and reception venue were all provided by the Sonnenalp Hotel, and the ceremony was at Vail Interfaith Chapel.

Kimberly and Dan - Wedding Highlights

Andrew Nease January 3, 2018

Out of all the wonderful weddings we have had the honor of shooting in 2017, this next wedding we have to share is truly a special one. Kimberly and Dan's wedding was one of our favorites all year for many reasons. Let's start off with the location: Granby Ranch, Colorado. Located on the south-western border of Rocky Mountain National Park, Granby Ranch is a charming little ski area, tucked away in one of Colorado's less developed mountain areas. Needless to say, the area is an ideal location for an outdoor mountain wedding.

After taking a chairlift to the top of the mountain, Kimberly and Dan spent the morning getting ready separately in a canvas gazebo and tent, each nestled back in the forest. Their ceremony was only a short distance away. To get there, you walk a short distance through an aspen grove and come out to a small clearing. At the edge of the clearing, the mountain suddenly drops away, offering unobscured, sweeping views of the landscape before you. Jagged, snow covered mountain peaks make up the horizon with miles of tree-covered hills between. This was the setting where Kimberly and Dan exchanged their vows to each other. If that wasn't good enough, their wedding was in September, so all of the aspen leaves were vibrant shades of yellow, red, orange, and green. It really doesn't get much better than that!

To top it all off, during their reception, we stole Kimberly and Dan away for a little while and drove a short distance out of the town. We parked and hiked up to the top of a grass covered hill. At the top of the hill, there is a lone wood gazebo and incredible views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. We later found out that this same gazebo was where Kimberly had dreamed of getting married her whole life (how special is that?!). As golden hour set in, Kimberly and Dan got to enjoy a moment alone together on top of this ridge, watching the sunset. It was hands down one of the most beautiful moments of the entire year for us. As the rest of the night carried on, there wasn't a moment that wasn't filled with laughter, smiles and enthusiastic dancing.

Kimberly and Dan, thank you SO much for entrusting us to help capture your special day! We had so much fun taking part in your wedding, and it was really heartwarming getting to see the enormous amount of faith, love and support you have in the family and friends around you.

Special thanks to the photographer, Brian Schindler, for his help and enthusiasm throughout the day. He truly has mad skills with a camera, and you can check out his incredible photos of Kimberly and Dan's wedding on his website (linked above). And of course to the marvelous MAG Events for coordinating and putting together this event. You all were such a great team to work with!

Cristina and Scott - Wedding Highlights

Andrew Nease December 19, 2017

We are so pleased to share our latest highlight film of Cristina and Scott's wedding in lovely Boulder, Colorado! The day started a bit overcast, and not long after the ceremony, as we arrived at the reception, the skies opened up and started pouring down rain. It was at this time that we were supposed to be taking photos of everyone on the sprawling golf course. To some, this could have seemed like a total disaster, but Cristina and Scott fully embraced it and went out walking and dancing together in the rain, hand in hand. The sun poked through even as it was still raining steadily, and we were able to capture some gorgeous shots. We were even treated to a spectacular double rainbow afterwards.

At Cristina and Scott's wedding, it was so special to witness not only the couple's strong love for each other, but to also witness everyone else's love for the couple. This day clearly meant so much not only to the couple, but also to everyone else in attendance. It was really cool to see what a loving and supportive community of people that they have around them. Throughout the whole day, everyone was just beaming with joy and love.

Congratulations Cristina and Scott! Thank you so much for letting us capture your wedding. It truly was a beautiful day, and we feel so blessed to have been a part of it!

Zoe and Scott - Wedding Highlight

Andrew Nease December 5, 2017

I have been so exited to get to Zoe and Scott's wedding film ever since I started looking through the footage as I backed it up 3 months ago. It was just one of those weddings where everything that was out of our control went absolutely perfectly -- the settings, the weather, the lighting, and the authentic and expressive love shared by all.

The day started with lightly drizzling rain and soft white light. By late morning, as we got in the car and drove to nearby Horsetooth Reservoir for the first look,  the rain had ceased and turned into this breathtakingly ethereal scene. There were banks of low-hanging clouds and mist all around the reservoir. Occasionally a golden ray of sunlight would pierce through the clouds and light up the rolling foothills in the distance. The reservoir itself has steeply sloping banks and rocky outcroppings all around it, which make for beautiful vistas in any weather. The entire setting was spectacular. It was truly a moving moment to watch Zoe and Scott get to share their first private moment together in this special place. Their nervous excitement gave way to pure joy and love as they embraced each other, and it didn't leave for the entire rest of the day. By the time that the ceremony started, the clouds had cleared up revealing a classic Colorado blue sky, which continued into the late afternoon as these two celebrated surrounded by their family and friends. It was truly everything that you could hope for in a wedding.

Zoe and Scott, Thank you so much for letting us be a part of your wedding day. It is such an honor for us, and we wish you a lifetime of happiness!

Zoe and Aaron - Wedding Highlights

Andrew Nease December 2, 2017

Of all the weddings that we've had the privilege of shooting this summer, this one was perhaps the most light hearted, playful and downright fun of the bunch! From the convoy of bicycle taxis that the bride and her bridesmaids took through downtown to get from their hotel to the venue, to the colorfully lit rooftop dance party, to ending the night with bowling and midnight pizza, this group knew how to have a good time together.

Zoe and Aaron's wedding took place on the rooftop of the Denver Athletic Club, which is centrally located in downtown Denver. A rooftop gathering was the perfect way to take advantage of the warm summer evening, surrounded by the lights of the sky scrapers.

Zoe and Aaron were both so sweet and welcoming that it felt more like we were at the wedding of some long-time friends. Congratulations you two! Thanks for bringing us on board to help capture the start of your new chapter together.

Jill and Sam - Wedding Highlight Video

Andrew Nease August 12, 2017

I am so excited to be able to finally share this wedding video! Before I even loaded the footage for this wedding in to my computer to pull together the preview, I knew this video was going to be something special. The location, the day, the couple, the amazing flower arrangements put together by the mother of the bride, and the awesome first dance were all too perfect for it to not be a spectacular video.

One of the "x factors" that can really make a wedding video spectacular is willingness from the bride and grooms (and wedding party) to go the extra mile to get cool shots. Sam and Jill may take home the all time gold medal in that category. Thank you Jill and Sam for being such good sports all day and giving us the time and freedom to capture amazing footage! This wedding was an absolute joy to shoot and edit, and we are so grateful to have been a part of your wedding day. Congratulations!

Gotta love couples who are willing to go the extra mile for cool shots. #WeddingVideo #DenverWeddingVideographer #videographer #mountainwedding #coppermountain #colorado #slowmotion #wedding

Jacilyn and Jake - Wedding Highlight Video

Andrew Nease July 31, 2017

I posted the preview for this wedding a few weeks ago, and I'm so excited to share the final wedding video!

Jacilyn and Jake's wedding in Vail was the quintessential Colorado mountain wedding. The entire day looked and felt pulled from the pages of a bridal magazine. Every little detail of the wedding was crafted with with incredible attention to detail, and the total result was breathtaking. The location, the floral arrangements, and even the dinner (elk hunted by the bride!) were all wonderful.

First and foremost, I want to give a shout out to the artists over at Vintage Magnolia Florists. We see a lot of bouquets, boutonnieres and floral arrangements, and the flowers for this wedding were some of my all time favorites. The ceremony took place on the lawn at The Larkspur, with Vail's iconic view of the Gore range in full glory behind the couple, and the reception was at the Donovan Pavilion, which is one of my favorite reception venues in Colorado. Photography was by Click and Pedal. Catering was by Gourmet Cowboy.

This video was such a joy to film, and Jacilyn and Jake were incredible to work with. I am so grateful to have gotten to capture such a beautiful wedding, and I wish the couple a lifetime of happiness!
